April 2023 is a busy month for both Shrewsbury and Grafton league members.  Shrewsbury is hosting a Candidates Forum on Monday, April 24, 6:30 pm at the Oak Street Middle School.    Grafton’s Candidates Forum will be Sunday, April 30 at 7 pm in Room A at the Grafton Municipal Center.    Both events will be recorded by local cable television.

Shrewsbury has races for Select Board, School Committee and Housing Authority.  Grafton has races for Select Board and School Committee.

March was a busy month with a return of  our Annual Pot luck on March 5.  After dinner we listened to an interesting update on efforts to make our communities more “sustainable.”

Ann Marie Foley updated us on Grafton’s work to be a “Green Community.”   Diane Jones told us about Shrewsbury’s progress on its Climate Action Plan which was approved by Town Meeting last year.  Grant money is available to hire a person to help the town write this plan.

Also in March we had a book discussion on “How to Avoid a Climate Disaster,” by Bill Gates.

This is a very educational book that helps one understand the big picture on the changes needed in different industries.
